TOM’s High School Regional Rankings: Mid-Atlantic (Dec. 28th)

Welcome to the second season of TOM’s High School Regional Rankings. Over the next few weeks, we will release rankings for eight different regions covering the entire nation. Why is that needed, you may ask? These rankings allow us to focus more attention on wrestlers from around the country, ones that could be considered overlooked at the time. With talent clustered in certain areas of the nation, there are plenty of wrestlers from outside those “power-states” or regions that may get slighted.

With all of that being said, this edition focuses on one of the most powerful areas in the country, the Mid-Atlantic. While small in terms of geographic area, this region includes two of the nation’s best wrestling states. Only four states have been considered for the Mid-Atlantic Region and they are Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. See who makes the cut in the top-12 from the Mid-Atlantic at each weight.

Weight/Rank Name School Grade State College
106
1 Vincent Kilkeary Greater Latrobe Pennsylvania Sophomore
2 Nikolaus O’Neill Malvern Prep Pennsylvania Freshman
3 Matty Lopes Blair Academy New Jersey Freshman
4 Gabe Giampietro Smyrna Delaware Junior
5 Danny Jones Delbarton New Jersey Freshman
6 Conor Collins Southern Regional New Jersey Sophomore
7 Carson Wagner Northampton Pennsylvania Sophomore
8 Luke Stanich Roxbury New Jersey Sophomore
9 Kaedyn Williams Manheim Township Pennsylvania Freshman
10 Josh Jasionowicz Stroudsburg Pennsylvania Senior
11 Nico Calello Watchung Hills New Jersey Junior
12 Dominic Flatt Solanco Pennsylvania Senior

This weight class features six wrestlers that are currently in TOM’s national rankings. Like any other set of 106 lbs rankings, expect it to change as more freshmen get more mat time, especially in states like New Jersey and Pennsylvania that tend to produce top lightweights annually. The race for the top spot in New Jersey could be the one to watch. Only one state medalist from 2020 returns at this weight, Luke Stanich. It also features a top-notch freshman, Danny Jones, and Conor Collins, who has already started to emerge as a legit title threat. 106 lbs also features the highest-ranked wrestler (#4) from Delaware, Gabe Giampietro.
