I agree. It was absolutely ridiculous. I understand it is a tough sport but it was way over the top this year. If you get an unsportsmanlike conduct for a celebration after winning a match it should count as a DQ. It needs to get shutdown before it goes too far. Let your wrestling do the talking.

I do believe that Sturgis is an A school where recruiting and housing kids for the sake of sports can be expected. So yes, nobody is talking about an A school and their homegrown kid count. Do you think the Canton admin has had to look at their boy enrollment and maybe shake some things up to stay below a number to stay in the Bs? Do you think there has EVER been any sort of 'funny business' that has taken place to stay in the Bs? I have zero idea and don't really care because we cannot change the past but being at the number or just under the number year after year makes one think. So ya, nobody really cares about Sturgis winning it this year.

You say you dont really care, yet here you are commenting about canton winning, and just because Sturgis is an A school it is okay to recruit and house kids, yet when rumors about canton recruiting spread it is terrible and not good for the sport and needs to be stopped, make that makes sense to me

There are other B schools that have solid programs. There is nothing stopping them from having kids move in to the program to make a run at the team title. Maybe there is more to it.

To statechampbidaway: Let's touch on the main examples, one being the first post on this thread about singlet colors. It's a valid point, why so many colors? Do schools in general have no pride about the history of their schools that they need all of these wild colored singlets/ jerseys that are not what their predecessors who paved the way wore? Imagine at the Olympics we started wearing a maroon color, powder blue and a cream colored whatever to compete in. It'd get the people talking about pride of the red, white and blue. To me, history is important but I am a dumbo so my opinion is irrelevant. Another example could be the noted recruiting from the program for probably over a decade now, I am not sure. I really have not heard of other schools being as prevalent in recruiting because I am a B schooler, but I always just assumed that stuff happened in the bigger schools because to a small town kid it just seems as if the big schools operate more like a college than a small school. The next example would be setting up teenage kids in homes to live by themselves or with another family strictly for sports purposes. So that is just three examples that I can think of off the top of my head. I won't mention the RUMORS about steroid use that I haven't heard about in any other B school communities.

Yes, I do think that A schools play in a little bit of a different league than the teams that have to have multiple towns join together just to field half of a roster. Go look at the B teams that competed in state and see how many of the teams are just a one town name. It is not many. Even if they are just a one town name, there is probably a kid that lives in a town of 6 that drives 10 miles to go to that school. Yes, there are legit B schools that have solid programs but I would say the main thing stopping them from bringing in outside talent is the lack of wanting to bring in outside talent. I really don't know of any other B schools who have sought after non-hometown talent, aside from when a kid gets in trouble and has to go to the next closest town with wrestling, but that is different. I know of one case where an absolute nail gun wanted to join a good program and the kid toured the school but when he talked to the wrestling coach, the coach essentially said "Yaaaa we have who we want here, kick rocks". That team did not win a state tourney or even place in the top 5, but definitely could've. The fans of the town would've wanted an asterisk if they would've placed high and "hung a banner" with that kid on the roster. So if Sturgis wins 5 in a row, they'd still have to win how many more to catch up to Canton? There is a difference in the scenario we are discussing, mainly because they are an A school but also due to how long this has all been going on. This whole hate on Canton thing is the same for any program who has been great. Yes, GREAT! The Patriots, the Warriors in basketball, the modern day Chiefs/ Patty Mahomes. I am strictly advocating for the little guy, the guy who has legit pride for his hometown. Times have changed and it'll have to be okay!
