Totally agree whoever has final say, needs to rethink his position!!

Which weights do you think are bad? I am curious as to why.

Quote from chargergrad on February 24, 2025, 3:54 pmWell take a really good look at the seedings on track. Lohr at 138 has the most seed points yet gets the 2nd seeding? Come on man !!!! And no. I don’t have a dog in the fight. Heck take a look at a few of the weights abd the seed points. And tell me how they come up with some of the brackets.

Seed points are different from "seeds". At 138, Callahan is 4-3 vs Nadig, and 1-1 with most recent victory vs Lohr. Based on the criteria listed, he should be the number 1 seed. Before you come after me, I understand 100% that Callahan's victory was an injury default. But if we start not counting injury defaults as losses it really opens the door for dodging to keep a seed. It might not be in line with the rankings, but it is correct based on the criteria the SDHSAA has listed.

Quote from Dave on February 24, 2025, 4:40 pmNot sure if the brackets are bad, but SDHSAA/Track's AI could use some human common sense either before or after the brackets are hatched.
Does it seem strange that ONE State bracket contains TWO first-round pairings that are carbon copies of two Region championship matches? (A-285, Regions 2 and 4)
Per SDHSAA: "Two wrestlers from the same region will be allowed to match up with one another during the first round of competition."
Regardless of the seed 10/draw 6 algorithm, it seems like the top two wrestlers from any region should not have to wrestle each other in the first round.

Ok 126 I understand it is technically right just like 138 but common sense tells anyone they are not!! It is what it is but we can argue 10 different ways about a few of them Brody got a 4th seed just because of having the clear 1 seed in the region and ending up 2nd Oehme and Central kid region champs in weak weight classes in there regions!! I understand any region can have a weaker weigh class any given year!! This is when common sense needs to come into play!! Just my opinion

Well Racing34. I would say 126 is not right.. the rankings are supposed to reward for the body of work throughout the season.. looking back at the season with 2 wins head to head over Oheme I would argue Randell should have the 2 seed. Not sure how you can put him over Randell.. I could see maybe Tschetter over Randell with no head to head.. but from what I can see Tschetter really has no matches against many of the kids in the weight class. So I would really like a explanation to these seedings.

Quote from Convoy on February 25, 2025, 9:04 amI have a general question
Since track wrestling is used to seed state tournament, when teams host tournaments and track seeds them what is to stop coaches from plugging in competitions names to see where they stand on track. (The new AI dodge method).
Until it’s released to the public on day of the tournament it’s just surfing the net for relevant information for personal use.
Kind of like their own personal ranking system.
Back to the question can this happen or is their safeguards in place?

Quote from Reaper on February 25, 2025, 9:35 amThere is an easy fix my friend......Just have track do the weekly rankings and take it out of the Ratings Groups Hands.
Problem solved.

I think it is because they are excited. I for one like when kids get excited at the state tournament.
