Quote from cbds on March 2, 2026, 4:39 pmIs it too soon to complain about changing to just 2 regions in class B again??? Just some quick numbers whipped together (just by pencil and in a hurry, may be a little off).
Points total
1-444, 2-406, 3-658.5, 4-241
Champs
1-3,2-3,3-8,4-0
Finals match
1-6, 2-7,3-15,4-0
Based on the Seeds vs Week 11 rankings 5 kids didn't make the state tournament that were either ranked or HM. If we really want the best state tournament, don't we want all the best kids there? Going to 2 regions would also eliminate the complaining about seeding at the state tournament for kids 11-16.
And no, the answer is not just go to one class. That would be the fastest way to kill the sport in SD.

Quote from Cneville on March 3, 2026, 3:48 pmI am not agreeing or disagreeing but how do you propose the two regions be divided, east/west, north/south, or northwest/southeast, or northeast/southwest? Because if you simply say region 1/2 and 3/4, where are you going to host those tournaments? For example...is Bon Homme going to want to travel to Rapid City every year for regions and state? That is the only place big enough to host a tournament that big. You also have to take into account that quite a few of the B schools still don't have separate girls coaches. I understand your argument and like I said, Im not disagreeing or agreeing with your logic. Just pointing out some facts that need to be considered. So I propose this instead...since the state tournament is 3 days long anyways, lets just make 24 man brackets and qualify the top 6 in each weight in each region. Then you get your "best" kids there and we can utilize the 3 days better. Again, just a thought.
