I was getting ready for a trip. Suddenly realized I’d never really looked at the baggage details on my ticket. I had an idea of what I wanted to pack but I didn’t want to just assume my usual way of packing would work for this flight.
So I started looking into Delta Airlines Baggage Fees. I found out the cost can change based on your itinerary, ticket type and any benefits or exceptions you might have. Now Delta charges $45 for the first standard checked bag and $55 for the second on trips that qualify for domestic travel. Standard bags must be, under 50 pounds and 62 linear inches.
I also found out that some Delta SkyMiles American Express card members get checked-bag perks. Starting June 4 2026 eligible Basic Card Members will get a waiver for a second standard checked bag on qualifying Delta-operated flights.
After reading all that I actually weighed my suitcase. Checked my reservation instead of going by memory from past trips. That small step helped me know what to expect before getting to the airport.
