Requesting an official explanation of how state seeding works.

It appears that there are several examples where wrestlers placed 1st in their region but are not in top 4 seeding. Or wrestlers that placed 4th are in top 8 seeding.  It appears that region placing no longer matters.

You are correct. Who you beat during the season matters.

So head to head matters?  You would think so.

I know at 220B the 2 seed beat the 1, but not sure if they wrestled each other more than once.

Oh, and do they seed all they way to 16?

Only the top 10 get seeded

Can some post the seeding criteria or provided a link to where it can be found.

If you go to the tournament on track. Click on weights -> Bracket Type (for the weight class you want) -> Seeds

That may give you more information on each wrestlers seed points

That's even more confusing as it appears that seeding doesn't follow regional placement or winning percentage, it does follow the SDHSAA seeding.  So how does SDHSAA seed ..as a governing entity there has to be a policy or white paper on their decision making process.

If you go to the SDHSAA page you will be able to find the handbook that has the seed criteria in it.
