North Dakota and South Dakota wrestlers are having a great first day! Seniors Boeden Greenly makes quarterfinals going 3-0 defeating Roel Johnson from CT by fall in 1:43, Tucker Vician MA by TF 23-8, and Ivan Smith NM 5-0. He will be facing Erik Mccown CA who has pinned his 3 opponents going into the quarters. Mccown wrestled for Palm Desert HS he wrestled between 160-170 winning pretty much every tournament he entered this past season he pinned all his opponents.. and most in the first period, could be very interesting seeing this match!
LJ Araujo went 3-0 pinning each wrestler he faced. Logan Hancey UT in 5:28, Zachary Russo NC in 2:39, and Zachary Wessley KS, next in the quarters he faces Brent Nicolosi MA. Nicolosi wrestled for Haverhill Mass where there is little information about his high school wrestling… I did find he won every tournament he was in but no State Tourney info.. in Fargo last year he went 2-3 @152 and 3-2 last year at this tournament @145.
Navarro Schunke 3-0 and into the quarters with victories over Cal Johnson VA by fall 1:48, Brandon Goldstein NY by fall 2:41, and Braden Ewing PA 13-1. Today he faces Jaquavian Daniels GA, wrestled for Colquitt County High School where he took 2nd at the Georgia 7A State tournament.
Ben DeForest is wrestling as I type this.. Yesterday he went 1-1 and has a long road to get to the podium. He just won his first match today.. and now his second… nice pin.. 3-1 and still working…
Koltyn Grebel went 1-1 and also has a long road back to the podium.
Joey Enzminger went 2-2 and is out.
Nicolas Enzminger went 5-0 yesterday… a Great win to start defeating the #1 seed Liam Davis FL 6-4, Ivan Thrift VA fall :20, Eli Chesla MA fall 1:09, Tyler Detwiler PA fall :56, and Austin Brown MO fall 2:20. Today he faces Alex Rozas LA, Rozas wrestled for Teurlings Catholic where he went 56-0 last season, winning a state championship at 106 with 51 of his matches won by Fall or TF… looks like a great match.
Elijah Schunke is went 1-1 yesterday… and is still wrestling… he is now 3-1 and has to fight back and win at least 3 more to get on the stand.
Good luck wrestlers.
